Dragonball Z

Dragonball The story of Dragon Ball follows the life of a monkey-tailed boy called Son Goku. The Dragon Ball story evolves until Goku becomes an adult. The story then changes to Dragon Ball Z. During his life, Son Goku fights many battles and eventually becomes the strongest martial artist in the universe. He is not without help as large ensemble cast of martial artist heroes and villains provide the conflicts which drive each story.

Dragon Balls are not the focus for most of the plot lines. The Dragon Balls are actually seven magical orbs which are scattered across the world. When brought together they can be used to summon the dragon Shenlong, who will grant one wish within its limit. After the wish is granted, the Dragon Balls are again scattered around the globe and become inert for one year. Historically it has taken generations to search the world and gather the Dragon Balls. However in the beginning of the story a 16 year old girl genius named Bulma has created a "Dragon Radar" to detect the Dragon Balls which makes the process of finding the Dragon Balls much easier than was originally intended to be.

For all their martial arts bravado, the stories of Dragon Ball center primarily around the values of forgiveness and love, kindness and compassion. These values are generally conveyed through "pure" ideals of Son Goku and Son Gohan, and everyone whose lives they touch. Nearly every major character in the series entered as a villain but was, through one method or another, converted to the side of good by being given a chance to live. Often, this would entail a temporary joining together to defeat some greater foe, and somehow the former enemies rarely desire to begin fighting again after the common enemy's defeat. This theme has been present from the beginning as depicted by the conversions of Yamcha, Oolong, Pu'ar, Tenshinhan and Chaozu - to name a few.

Dragon Ball is also important as it provides its audience with themes of self-improvement and piety. Throughout the series, the heros never cease in their martial arts training. Son Goku remains the strongest martial artist through the series, training only for self-improvement. Furthermore, the downfall of most of the opponents are their own ego's believing because of their respective powers, they are untouchable. (from Wikipedia) Cartoon Info - Halla Gulla Fun Land
